FACTORY POINT: THEN AND NOW – A TALK BY THE MANCHESTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

M.S Colburn Tannery
The West Branch of the BattenKill and current site of the Riverwalk

Ever wonder what the area of Main Street and Manchester Center looked like 100 years ago? How about two hundred? Factory Point was a sizable district with a rich history which at various times included textile and sawmills, gristmills and tanneries, among other manufacturers, many of which drew their power from the West Branch of the Battenkill. Come join us for a talk on this area Sunday, October 11th at 11 am at the Factory Point Town Green with Shawn Harrington, curator of the Manchester Historical Society and local expert on Manchester. Free and open to the public, with complimentary cider and donuts to enjoy. Rain date will be Monday, the 12th, also at 11. This event is sponsored by the Manchester Riverwalk Association.

For those who would like a little exercise in the fresh fall air beforehand, join the Riverwalk and student volunteers from the Long Trail School for our trail clean-up along the banks of the Battenkill. We will meet at 10 am in the parking lot next to Friends of the Sun, 159 Depot Street, Manchester Center. This is a short walk to the Town Green.
