Riverwalk is an important way for all ages to experience the beautiful town of Manchester, Vermont, on foot and away from cars and traffic, yet close to shopping and restaurants. Like a number of other beloved trails and walks in communities across New England, our dream is that Riverwalk will be another compelling reason to visit Manchester and the Northshire community.
Our vision is to create a series of walkable paths by the Battenkill that runs through the historic heart of Manchester Center, featuring a couple of pedestrian bridges across the river.
Visitors will be able to sit and relax to the gentle trills and burbles of the water, admire the waterfall, listen to birdsong, walk alongside the river in the shade of the overhanging trees, and wonder at the microclimates along the paths … all the while being right in the center of downtown Manchester!
We anticipate hosting art installations, musical events, educational opportunities, and historical references by Riverwalk that will illuminate and entertain.
Most of all, we want you to connect with the river and its surroundings!
The Manchester Riverwalk is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with a mission to build, beautify, and maintain public pathways along the West Branch of the Battenkill in Manchester, Vermont, thereby enhancing vibrancy in the community, while creating a compelling recreational and cultural destination.
